Sending the first tweet
Oct. 15 - I recently signed up for a Twitter account so I could follow Ambassador Roos. He sent his first tweet on Oct. 1: "Happy to be joining millions of Japanese friends on Twitter." Within three days, over 5,000 followers had signed up to read about the Ambassador's travels in Japan, the people he meets, and his thoughts about U.S.-Japan relations.
Twitter is a wonderful tool for Ambassador Roos to reach out directly to Japanese followers. One special feature is that he posts his thoughts on his experiences as the United States Ambassador to Japan in both English and Japanese. This means that language students can also study Japanese while reading his tweets.
If you are interested in following the Ambassador you can sign up to be a follower at http://twitter.com/AmbassadorRoos.
Until next time,
Jim
