National Cathedral Service for Japan

I snapped this photo of the Washington National Cathedral one evening walking in my neighborhood.

April 11 - My home in Washington, D.C. is quite near the Washington National Cathedral, and we can even hear the church bells of this magnificent structure from our window. This Cathedral will host an interfaith prayer service in honor of the people of Japan on Monday, April 11, at 7 p.m.

The service will mark one month since the earthquake and resulting tsunami struck. The service will feature Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, and Christian faith representatives. All are welcome to attend.

Ann and I are sorry that we will be unable to attend this service, but we hope some blog readers who live in Washington, D.C. might do so. I plan to watch this service on a webcast live from the Cathedral's homepage at www.nationalcathedral.org.

Until next time,

Jim

COMMENTS

This very moving interfaith service remains available for viewing online.

Since I was in Sendai-shi at the Anglican-Episcopal Cathedral on Christmas Day, this continuing triple tragedy in Japan strikes me deeply. I hope many people will be inspired by watching this program. Thank you for sharing news of this life-affirming and inspiring service widely.

Dear Mr. Jim Zumwalt

There is no single word to express our sincere appreciation to your people for the dedicated work in quake-tsunami wrecked area AND radiation contaminated nuke plant site. I know you are receiving so many Thank You messages like mine, but please know that they are just a part of an iceberg - there lies more and more silent appreciation inside.

All the best
