Feb. 16 - The most essential ingredient for a Happy Valentine's Day is love. In America, couples celebrate this day by reminding their spouse, partner or friend of their love in many ways. They might do this by choosing a romantic spot for a dinner together or by giving a gift of flowers or a nice card.

Although many might disagree with me, the second most important ingredient for Valentine's Day is chocolate. I inherited from my mother a special fondness for chocolate, and I am always ready for an excuse to have some. This year I decided to go to Shibuya to find a special box of chocolates to present Ann on Valentine's Day. I was pleased to discover that the department store was holding a "Chocolate fair" with many booths selling special imported chocolate from France, Belgium, Switzerland and the United States. The shop floor was crowded as many young women wandered around looking for a special box.

After searching among the booths, I finally found the perfect gift for Ann - a small box of exquisite hand-made chocolates in various shapes. I am looking forward to giving her this gift on Valentine's Day and enjoying some special time together. I want to wish all of you a Happy Valentine's Day too!
